A TD Fellowship Could be Within Your Reach |
In This Issue |
||||||||
TD Fellowships are a much sought-after CCAE membership benefit for schools that seek to add proven advancement talent to their shops. Thanks to generous, long-term support from CCAE National Partner, TD Insurance Meloche Monnex, two Fellowships - each valued at $37,500 - are available to CCAE member schools each year upon successful application. To provide guidance on the TD Fellowship planning and application process, CCAE offers a special CCAeLearning session free of charge, as a professional service, to all CCAE members. This session is presented by Selection Committee Chair, Mark Savenkoff, Director of Alumni and Donor Relations, Carleton University; and recent successful TD Fellowship applicant Mary Duffley, Alumni Program Manager (Saint John), University of New Brunswick Associated Alumni. |

Does your school have a major anniversary or a significant announcement to share with CCAE members? Send it to janetsailian@gmail.com for inclusion in the next CCAeNews! Queen’s University School of Business received a transformative $50 million gift on October 1, 2015. The gift from alumnus Stephen Smith, when disbursed over the next few years, will effectively double the Queen’s School of Business endowment. Mr. Smith earned an undergraduate degree in electrical engineering from Queen’s in 1972 and has donated $4 million in the past for bursaries and a research Chair. The School of Business will be named the Smith School of Business. Canadian universities held ground in the most recent, expanded Times Higher Education World University Rankings, according to The Globe and Mail and CTV News. Twenty-five Canadian universities placed among the world’s top 800. The top-ranked Canadian school was University of Toronto (19), followed by University of British Columbia (34), McGill (38), McMaster (94), University of Montreal (113), University of Alberta (137) and University of Waterloo (179). U.S. and U.K. institutions, as in the past, dominated top spots in the rankings. The PSE landscape in Canada encompasses more than universities and colleges, says an opinion piece by Nobina Robinson, Chief Executive of Polytechnics Canada. According to Robinson: “The fact is that the path to jobs and higher lifetime earnings increasingly goes through the country’s community colleges and polytechnics rather than universities exclusively. A rapidly growing number of college students, in fact, have a general university degree under their belts.” What did they study and in what fields do Ontario university grads work? The Higher Education Quality Council of Ontario shares detailed data in a spider-weblike graphic that reveals 21%, - the largest percentage of all grads - studied law, social and behavioural sciences; the largest percent (also 21%) work in business, finance and administrative fields. Charts are available in aggregate and in three separate age cohorts. |
