York University recently celebrated a $20 million donation from UK-based alumnus Victor Phillip Dahdaleh to expand the University’s global health initiatives. The gift is the largest by a York graduate in the University’s 56-year history.

UBC Okanagan has exceeded its $100 million start an evolution campaign goal by $100,000 and its target to double the number of UBC alumni engaged in the life of the university by 20%. “Funds raised during start an evolution will go towards student-centred initiatives, improvements to facilities, and research activities.”

The perennial question remains: How much, if at all, do rankings influence decisions by potential students, parents and faculty members?

They call for a nation-wide strategy to match skill development through PSE with skills requirements. “A new skills agenda is simply too important to the future of Canada to be left to piecemeal, uncoordinated strategies and actions.”
