During the CCAE COVID-19 series, CCAE brought together several seasoned Alumni professionals to discuss realities associated with changing strategies, shifting priorities and engagement plans.
To kick-off the 2021 Alumni Leaders’ Summit, CCAE is getting the band back together. It is imperative to keep the conversation going. How many temporary plans became permanent? How many events are staying online and what, does engagement look like in 2021?
In the months since the COVID series, there is STILL no crystal ball, and we still cannot predict the future. Therefore, we do what we do best, we collaborate and share ideas
- Are you engaging/supporting with International Alumni more than in previous years? If so, how?

Many of those alumni are well into their careers with needs that fall outside the scope campus career offices can support, leaving alumni relations teams wondering how to respond. During this conversation, we will discuss ways to overcome the challenges and lean into the opportunity of integrating alumni career supports with your overall engagement strategy.

An online book club is a great way to engage institutional constituents in a virtual environment and a number of Canadian Alumni teams have engaged with an online book club platform to build and deepen their relationships with their networks.
CCAE is bringing together 3 institutions to share how they are engaging with their online book club, how they are seeing success in not only engagement, but campus partnerships, and strengthened relationships. Following presentations by each institution, a discussion will take place to discuss things like, metrics, next steps, program growth, activation and future plans.
One should not judge a book by its cover, but CCAE knows, this is only the beginning of the Alumni Book Club Story.

In the spring of 2020, the University of Manitoba closed the “Front and Centre” campaign – the most successful fundraising campaign in Manitoba history raising $626 million and achieving an over 20% alumni participation rate, surpassing all original goals. They also welcomed a new president – Dr. Michael Benarroch – in July. Both are reasons to host great celebrations, but unfortunately, UofM was unable to undertake the usual alumni, donor and community engagement activities. Instead, they pivoted to support not only alumni and donors, but staff, students and the community. The current situation impacted the way the team approached their work and increased the need for alumni feedback and program metrics to direct program and engagement strategy for 2021.
