Rivi Frankle
Assistant Vice-President, Alumni and Stakeholder Relations
As one who has been involved in university alumni and development for more than 25 years, Rivi Frankle is among a handful of people who have helped transform the relatively young profession of educational advancement. She has not only built one of the most respected and emulated advancement shops in the country at the University of Toronto, she has also personally mentored hundreds of fundraisers, alumni managers and advancement communications practitioners.

Currently Assistant Vice-President, Alumni and Stakeholder Relations at the U of T, Rivi is a fierce and persuasive advocate of advancement’s critical role at the most senior levels of the institution. A tireless evangelist of the University of Toronto to donors and alumni alike, she has transformed advancement into a respected, mission-critical profession at Canada’s largest university. Rivi’s commitment, dedication and work ethic are legendary. She knows how to spot talent, and how to nurture it.

Rivi provided essential support and leadership to the U of T’s historic and unsurpassed $1 billion Great Minds fundraising campaign. Every area of advancement at U of T has benefited from her adept leadership and skills, from programs for over 480,000 alumni world-wide to the U of T Magazine, Annual Giving and Communications.

Rivi’s adept stewardship of major donors is matched by her zeal for improving the nuts and bolts of advancement services, including tele-fundraising, database conversions and staff evaluation systems. Her keen judgment and aptitude for innovation has generated a host of new ideas and methods across advancement specialties.

A frequent, popular presenter at CCAE conferences, Rivi is also a member of CASE and of the Association for Fundraising Professionals (AFP). She has led the U of T’s United Way Campaigns to great success.

Holder of a B.A. in Psychology and English from the University of Toronto and post-grad studies at U of T’s Institute of Child Study, Rivi has devoted her career to advancing advancement at her alma mater, while grooming hundreds of professionals now working at universities, independent schools, and a wide variety of charitable institutions around the world.

Through her leadership, Rivi has made a substantial impact on the advancement profession in Canada. CCAE is proud to honour her with the 2010 Outstanding Achievement Award.
