A Special Thank you from the CCAE Board

To all CCAE members:

The CCAE Board of Directors would like to extend its deepest thanks and congratulations to the CCAE professional team: Mark Hazlett, President and CEO, as well as Tara Sandler, Professional Development & Volunteer Management Officer, and Kara Perz, Communications & Marketing Officer,  along with our many service partners, for their outstanding leadership, vision and dedication over these past few weeks. 

Soon after the WHO declared the global pandemic, and advancement professionals across the country began to work from home, Mark identified a need for CCAE to provide timely information, insight and a sense of community to help our membership navigate these unusual times and continue to fulfil our professional missions.  With a seamless pivot, and with the full support of the professional team and the volunteer board, CCAE launched its  COVID-19 webinar series, which over its nine-week run, has provided important insight and discussion to more than a thousand participants on topics ranging from government relations and virtual convocation strategies, to alumni and donor engagement in the time of COVID-19. 

Mark and his team produced these webinars while undertaking the difficult work of cancelling arrangements for the 2020 National Conference in Winnipeg.  The team went beyond simply unwinding contracts and thanking the volunteer committee for their involvement.  They brought their considerable skills, creativity and ingenuity to the fore and engineered new ways to celebrate the 2020 recipients of our Distinguished Service and Prix d’Excellence awards programs.  They ensured that the TD Fellowships in Advancement program continued, and that the Fellows from 2019 and 2020 were well supported.  And, as we have experienced last week, the team produced an innovative, engaging Annual General Meeting, delivered entirely through online technologies

Mark and his team have been working diligently over the last weeks to devise new formats to deliver our fall and winter Professional Development programming, taking into account that physical distancing and restrictions on travel may remain in place for some time.  The CCAE board is confident that you’ll find these offerings and formats will provide tremendous value to you and your teams. 

Mark, Tara, and Kara: advancement professionals across Canada are fortunate to have such a dedicated team serving their needs via CCAE.  You have done a superb job of forging new means of connections at a time when we needed this more than ever; the valuable insight, data and information has been critical to the profession.    For all this, and more, we can’t thank you enough.
