Liberal arts grads may earn less than STEM grads, but endure less career volatility, according to a CBC Nova Scotia online article. Based on a study that tracked University of Ottawa grads, “the class of 1998 started earning around $40,000, regardless of what they studied. . . . After 13 years, people with degrees in things like social sciences or English were earning about $70,000. Science grads were earning about $80,000.” But, added the study, “there was a real roller coaster reflecting the demands for [engineering and IT] skills in the economy over time”.
