Associate Director Alumni Relations Posting (Maternity Leave position - September 2019 to August 2020)

St. John’s-Kilmarnock School is seeking an Associate Director to further develop our alumni relations program within SJK’s strategic vision. The individual will be responsible for establishing and executing our strategies and plans in order to enhance our alumni activities and strengthen the connection between the school and its alumni. The position will serve as part of the SJK external relations team and is a one-year maternity leave position.

  • Developing and maintaining local, national and international SJK alumni in groups, through online and offline communication as well as an active calendar of alumni social events

  • Organizing special events, including alumni gatherings, Fall Fair, etc.

  • Creating opportunities for alumni to make meaningful connections with their alma mater

  • Responsible for researching and updating alumni contact information, maintaining and growing our Alumni database as SJK approaches our 50th anniversary in 2022

  • Supporting alumni participation in the Annual Giving Program.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will possess a four-year degree or equivalent, as well as experience in marketing, communications, journalism, or business administration.

Additional qualifications include experience working in alumni affairs and/or student services; an event planning background; experience in other educational settings. The successful candidate will also have exceptional writing skills; the ability to quickly produce clear, precise communications that are consistent with the school's branding and objectives; enjoy working independently as well as collaboratively; use analytical and problem-solving skills to address new challenges, and be proficient with various social media apps, Google Apps and Microsoft Office Suite.

This full-time position will require flexible hours of work including occasional evenings and weekends as required. Occasional travel will also be required. Being an SJK Alumni and/or knowledge of independent school culture will be considered an advantage.
