Senior Advisor, Employment - Concordia University

SCOPE

Reporting to the Principal Director of Development for the faculty, the incumbent is responsible for supporting the full scope of activities related to the cultivation, solicitation, recognition and stewardship of a portfolio of major gift prospects and donors managed by the Principal Director of Development and the other Development Officers for the faculty. 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

§ Lead the development of a solicitation strategy for the Principal Director of Development in collaboration with key stakeholders and the other Development Officers for the faculty. 

§ Implement the development plan as identified by UA – while maintaining good working relations with Fundraisers, Faculty and staff; consider the interests of all appropriate areas when developing qualification/cultivation/solicitation strategies.

§ Adhere to prospect management guidelines and monitor assigned prospects progress using established reports; records prospect plan strategies, contact reports and follow-up actions in the alumni/donor database for the benefit of all users and the institutional memory.

§ Support the research and the development of gift proposals aligned with donors’ interests and university priorities.

§ Participate in the planning of solicitation activities for the Faculty Development team, including the preparation of solicitation documents, and other pertinent fundraising materials; track status of gift agreements and proposals.

§ Develop relationships to support other fundraisers in proposal-writing in response to priorities.

§ Ensure that gifts are appropriately stewarded over the short and long term.

§ Participate in the identification and qualification of potential major gifts donors with the support of Alumni Officers and in collaboration with the Prospect Management team through large-scale phone and email contacts; keep up to date statistics on progress of qualification of potential major gifts donors.

§ Facilitate engagement opportunities for prospects (i.e. guest lectures competition judges, etc.)

§ Participate in University Advancement prospect review and assignment meetings.

§ Recommend, suggest and compile lists for the recruitment, training and support of volunteers.

REQUIREMENTS

§ Bachelor Degree in a field related to the primary responsibilities and two to four years’ experience in a fundraising environment.

§ Previous experience working in a University setting is an asset.

§ Good knowledge (Level 4) of spoken and written English & French to communicate effectively and persuasively with administrators, staff members, and other key stakeholders.

§ Self-motivated and an innovative planner.

§ Persuasive and able to influence and convince; detail oriented.

§ Resourceful and independent yet works well in a team environment.

§ Good knowledge  (Intermediate Level) of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint; knowledge of Blackbaud CRM system is an asset.

§ Exceptional interpersonal and listening skills.

§ Ability to motivate and inspire others (i.e.: volunteers and staff).

§ Proven proposal and presentation skills.

Salary
