Full-Time (1.0 FTE), 2-year term position, starting March 1, 2021.
St. Michaels University School is looking for an additional team member to join our Advancement department supporting our fundraising responsibilities, as well as Alumni Relations and external
celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of the amalgamation of the two founding Schools: St. Michaels School and University School. Our fundraising includes an established Annual Appeal as
well as a new major capital campaign for new facilities and endowment. The Jubilee project will involve a hands-on approach to both organizing and executing events and activities between
September 2021 and June 2022, designed to engage and connect our community, especially Alumni. Meeting established fundraising goals will be a key priority for the successful candidate.
Reporting to the Director of Advancement & Campaigns, the Advancement Associate will ensure the team meets its fundraising and engagement goals through donor and alumni relations, as well as
organize events and activities to support the needs of the school and the Advancement team. The Advancement Associate will also support our archives, making use of our extensive collections
during celebrations and making archival material accessible to Alumni.
Key Responsibilities and Expectations
o Meeting individual and team fundraising goals, assisting with prospect identification, research and strategy development for fundraising appeals
o Planning and execution of Jubilee 2021-22 fundraising initiatives as appropriate and assisting in volunteer recruitment as needed
o Maintaining relationships and connections with donors and alumni of all eras
o Using our Raiser’s Edge database to record information, meetings and research, and creating reports, as needed
o Communicating with donors and alumni to support donations to the SMUS archival collections
o Responsible for providing alumni/archival content as needed, i.e. newsletters and online publications etc.
Qualifications
o Bachelors Degree or Diploma is preferred
o Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) certification is an asset
o Proven track record in donor and/or alumni relations within the non-profit sector, preferably at a major gift level
o Proven success in building strong long-term relationships resulting in donor engagement
o Experience organizing successful donor events in both the planning and execution phases
o Excellent research, analytical, problem solving and project management skills
o Ability to be tactful, demonstrate excellent judgement, and work as a positive and collaborative team member
o Enthusiastic, energetic, and a self-starter
o Superior written and oral communication skills
o Experience using social media to engage our community to support our events and initiatives
o Demonstrated ability to work both independently and cooperatively as part of a team
o Previous experience working in an independent school Advancement department is an asset
o Preference may be given to an alumnus of St. Michaels University School
o Flexibility needed in work days and hours as this position will require work outside of regular hours to support our diverse community and our events
Criminal Record Check
Must pass and maintain a clear Solicitor General criminal record check for the purpose of working with children.
