Located in the heart of one of the most dynamic and diverse cities in the world, OCAD U’s vision, as articulated in its strategic and academic plans, is to challenge people to audaciously and responsibly pursue the questions of our time through the powerful interplay of art, design, the social sciences, humanities, and the sciences.

This is an exciting opportunity for a strategic, inspiring, and creative advancement leader. Reporting to the President and acting as the chief development officer and a member of the senior leadership team, the Executive Director, Advancement is responsible for strengthening the culture of philanthropy and alumni engagement at OCAD U. In addition to carrying a portfolio of major gift donors and prospects, the Executive Director motivates, mentors and leads the Advancement team to establish and meet fundraising and advancement program goals, including major gifts and corporate sponsorships, alumni relations, annual and planned giving, and advancement and donor services.

Leveraging the University’s strength in cultural diversity, internationalization, and breadth of interdisciplinary offerings and research, this work will include the diversification of prospect identification and donor pipeline engagement, while sustaining historical relationships with art and design supporters.

The successful candidate will hold a Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Master’s degree preferred), with a minimum of ten years of successful senior fundraising experience with an extensive track record in prospect strategy at the transformational and major gift level, or an acceptable equivalent of education and experience.
