Loyalist is currently seeking to fill the position of Dean, Applied Science, Skills and Technology. The School of Applied Science, Skills and Technology (ASST) resides in the Bay of Quinte Skills Centre - a technology and trades training centre of choice for Southeastern Ontario. As a society, we need skilled workers, particularly in important labour markets such as architecture and building sciences, automotive, electrical, welding, and manufacturing. In the Bay of Quinte Skills Centre, students train on the latest equipment to prepare for in-demand jobs in these fields.
Reporting to the Senior Vice-President Academic, the Dean, ASST is accountable for contributing to the academic well-being and growth of the School and for providing academic and administrative leadership, supervision, support, and direction to all faculty and staff in the school. The Dean is accountable for the planning, development, maintenance, and ongoing quality review of the technology, skills and applied science full-time and part-time post-secondary programming offered within the School, ensuring that curriculum meets or exceeds external accreditation and relevant licensing requirements, and responding to the needs of students, industry, and the community while aligning with the College’s strategic objectives. The Dean is accountable for the fiscal management of the School including development of budgets and capital projects.
As the ideal candidate, you are a visionary and strategic leader, experienced in the leadership of individuals from diverse industries and disciplines within applied science, skilled trades, and technology. In combination with a graduate degree in Engineering, Technology, Applied Science, Business Administration, or a related discipline, you have a blend of industry and academic leadership experience, an appreciation for the technical and skilled trades, and a strong belief in the value and importance of the College sector. Your positive outlook, engaging manner, and collaborative style allow you to lead effectively and support a collegial, accountable environment. You also have a track record of building productive relationships with diverse stakeholders, enabling you to maintain and develop the institutional, community-focused, and industry-related partnerships essential to the School’s success. Willing to take a hands-on approach, you are able to lead the School in a rapidly changing environment as it builds on its many strengths.
