How to Start an Alumni Career Services Program

It now includes an online community, e-mentorship program, workshops, webinars, online career transition tools and resources as well as online and in-person networking events.

Yanick Dahan is an alumni relations professional with 15 years of experience at Concordia University. She manages the University’s affinity partnerships, alumni benefits and services and the Alumni Career Services program. She is known for her energy, enthusiasm and passion for higher education, and always strives to make a positive impact on the lives of those she works with. Her most recent accomplishment is the launch of the Alumni Career Services program for 140,000 alumni globally.
Stacey de Molitor is one of CCAE’s two TD Fellows in Advancement for 2016-17. A sociologist with a Master’s degree in communication, Stacey came to her Fellowship with her alma mater, Mount Saint Vincent University, with a keen interest in millennial philanthropy and engagement.
Following her first year with the Advancement team, running the Mount’s Annual Fund campaign, Stacey noted the challenge many institutions are facing: a population of aging donors and disengaged young alumni. A millennial herself, Stacey has a unique position of being able to examine the issue from both sides of the glass.
Stacey, a national award-winning researcher, has brought her passion for in-depth analysis to her Fellowship to build and inform the creation of both an Engagement Index and a Communications Plan for Mount Saint Vincent University, specifically targeted to young alumni and the millennial generation.
Matt has been in the role of Director of Alumni Relations and Development at Bishop’s for the past four years. Before transitioning into fundraising, Matt spent 12 years as the Manager of Alumni Relations at the University. He currently leads a team of 12 staff members who make up the Advancement Office at Bishop’s.
Highlights under Matt’s leadership include completing a $30M Capital Campaign - the largest in the University’s history; opening a new alumni house on campus; operating an annual fund with one of the highest participation rates in the country; and supporting a dynamic alumni relations portfolio that includes over 50 alumni events per year.
Matt has worked in nearly every aspect of Advancement, but one of his great interests is working with students and supporting their transition from student to graduate. He has been part of 16 graduating classes, with first-hand experience engaging with students and encouraging young alumni to remain connected and to “give back” to the University.
Allison is a newcomer to the world of Advancement. A proud graduate of the Bishop’s University class of 2014, she walked off of the stage and into the world of fundraising. Allison started in her role with BU focused on building a relationship with fellow recent graduates and the Alumni Association. Over the last two years-plus, Allison’s role has evolved into managing the student calling program and the graduating student class gift campaign, and leading fundraising and stewardship efforts throughout the annual fund program.
Passionate about sharing her experiences of building a relationship with the Bishop’s Alumni Association as a recent graduate herself, Allison hopes to share successes and lessons learned throughout her introduction to philanthropy in higher education.
