Hillfield Strathallan College is currently recruiting for the role of Senior Major Gifts Officer to join the Advancement & Communications team.
The Advancement and Communications team at Hillfield Strathallan College (HSC) encompasses Engagement (alumni, parents and stakeholder relations), Development (fundraising), College Events, and Communications.
The office works closely with the Head of College, and senior volunteers (Board of Governors, Board of Trustees) to effectively create a culture of philanthropy and support for the College.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Under the strategic direction of the Executive Director, Advancement & Communications, the Senior Major Gifts Officer will work closely with the fundraising team to lead a development portfolio securing major gifts in support of the College’s strategic initiatives. This is a pivotal role in support of a comprehensive and transformational capital campaign.
The position will sustain positive and mutually-rewarding relations between the College and its donors; maintain ongoing and active networking with internal and external constituencies.
The Senior Major Gifts Officer is responsible for a portfolio of (70-100) major gift donors and prospects ensuring relationships are created and fostered from cultivation through stewardship.
In tandem with the team, creates moves strategies, cultivation and solicitation plans in line with stakeholder interests and stages.
Participates in the development and growth of the major gift program.
Participates in the creation and management of strategic stewardship initiatives in line with donor interest and wishes.
Works with the Advancement and Communications team to acknowledge, recognize, communicate with and cultivate past and current donors to enhance their relationship with the College and increase the likelihood of continued contributions.
Participates in the research of potential philanthropic prospects.
Implements agreed-upon fundraising metrics, utilizing the donor database (Raiser’s Edge) to track activities and report progress on a regular basis and that it is in line with the department’s policies and practices; this involves input of consistent, accurate, and appropriate information for cultivating and stewarding prospects and donors.
Responsible for ensuring the use of the Advancement team’s database (Raiser’s Edge) is in line with the department’s policies and practices; this involves input of consistent, accurate, and appropriate information for cultivating and stewarding prospects and donors.
Recommends and facilitates recognition of major gifts and donors using, amongst other vehicles, College Publications, College website, and Media Relations.
Advises on and facilitates the recognition of donors in both print and Web-based publications. Contributes donor and gift information for the College’s Annual Report, philanthropic lists, etc.
Works continuously within a donor relations program that makes use of donor recognition events and a multitude of College-wide events. Other community events and involvement will also form part of the duties as required.
Is a key contact for donors helping to resolve problems, answer questions, and address concerns.
Actively seeks out opportunities to participate in the life of the College in order to be an informed, engaged, and excited advocate for the advancement of the mission of the College.
REQUIREMENTS
Successful candidates will have an undergraduate degree and experience in major gifts, preferably at an educational institution; fundraising designation a plus. Transferable skills, knowledge and experience may be considered.
Proven experience and demonstrated success with soliciting major gifts utilizing strong project management, organization and planning skills, with a demonstrated track record of program development and implementation and attentiveness to detail.
Proficiency with Raiser’s Edge and strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office as well as a demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity, sustainability and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
